President’s Report 2023
I (Bob) have been president for almost a year; I’m more enthusiastic now than ever. I’m really in awe of the diligence and dedication of the other executive committee members. They have delivered a multiple of duties without surrendering to the stress of being over worked.
With minimal assistance they skillful completed all the responsibilities, managing the THAAA, with such passion and honor in the pursuit of fulfilling the dream of an association equal to all.
There is a constant expansion of new members and existing members and as president I want to meet as many as possible. To address concerns there is the need to deliver all the detail of those concerns to the association in any means suitable to you. The executive committee remains open for discussion. Any member interested in taking part of the discussions only needs to let us know. Presently, we are in discussion of supplying a podium for what is called “Voice of a Survivor”. Survivors will have an opportunity to give his or her point of view on support they need and how the service can be complete. We believe survivors include, members, service providers, family members and the survivor of sever injuries as well.
Everyone knows all members of the executive committee are there on a volunteer basis and there is a belief; when you stand together others would take you seriously. Volunteers are the foundation of any association.
There is a need for more volunteers to assist in the management of our association. We are currently attempting to support members in different categories: Certified Members, Practicing Members, Student members, Associate members. Not to be forgotten are the out of province TA’s moving here to Alberta. The point here is to express the need for volunteers to offer between 3 to 5 hours per month and allow time every 4 months for a virtual meeting.
In community, we continue to be involved as part of an Advisory Committee to strengthen and bridge connections with the health care and education providers. Staying aware of any changes in the medical treatment programs, educational programs and updated protocols, keeps our association inline with others. After all, 3 years since Covid brought many things to a standstill this association continued to build in members and importance. The idea here is to enlighten and encourage TA’s to step forward to consider the value of our association
An ultimate goal is the THAAA becoming a regulated association to offer advanced platforms in education and recognition and qualification. A major benefit to THAAA members would be recognition as qualified health care practitioners with individual and specific sets of skills. Advocating for additional opportunities to explore professional development is part of the association’s duties.
In closing, I ask, please talk to your associates about the Association, join us and help promote and build a stronger Association. May 24, 2023 we are planning an AGM and you are invited virtually and possibly in person.

President, THAAA
